ORIGIN

The purity of carbon fiber
A road bike as light as a feather
Where architecture meets cycling

Edvinas, the bike builder of Tsubasa Bicycles, is the beginning and end of the brand. A former architecture student in London, he turns a pure passion for cycling into something remarkable. His exceptional feel for materials and a broad experience that spans many cultures raise the bicycle from a means of transport to a work of art.

The story of Edvinas's wife, a Korean-Japanese, goes back to the Japanese colonial period. Born into a family taken to Japan through forced labor, she absorbed many cultures as she moved between Korea, Japan, Hong Kong and Britain. Edvinas, born in the Soviet Union, grew up witnessing the scars of Cold War states on his way from Lithuania in Eastern Europe to Britain.

The emotional approach of Tsubasa Bicycles comes from a broad understanding of both East and West. The name comes from the Japanese word for ‘wing’ (tsubasa). It expresses the brand's pursuit of feather-like lightness, and carries the brand's essence across past and present, East and West, function and beauty.

CROW

Tsubasa Crow

The Tsubasa Crow, the signature model of Tsubasa Bicycles, pursues a single proposition: speed.

Edvinas, the bespoke bike builder of Tsubasa Bicycles, took his inspiration from the crow's sharp intelligence, its sleek silhouette and the lightness of its black feathers. A finesse you won't find on production bikes is the essence of the Tsubasa Crow.

AESTHETIC TEXTURE

The Tsubasa Crow's carbon tubes are made by the builder's own hands. Each tube carries the Crow's distinctive carbon pattern and raw, three-dimensional texture, and is reborn as a frame fitted to the rider's style and geometry. The rear brake bridge and the dropouts that hold the rear derailleur are titanium.

TSUBASA ATTITUDE

Silken desert sand reveals its presence somewhere between beauty and harshness. The character of the Tsubasa Crow brings that duality of desert sand straight into cycling. A Helvetica logo, clean character lines and a texture all its own combine to express the Crow's resolute attitude.

“TSUBASA is not simply a brand name but a word that carries the builder's philosophy. Meaning ‘wing’, it captures what a bicycle truly is. The feeling in the saddle created by feather-light weight and remarkable responsiveness, together with Tsubasa's own texture, raises cycling to the level of contemporary art.”

The move into the carbon fiber era opened a remarkable field of opportunity for frame builders. Free from the fixed properties of steel and aluminum, carbon fiber lets a builder create strength, compliance and shape at will, and it has become a canvas that holds the builder's imagination as it is.

Edvinas, founder and frame builder of Tsubasa Bicycles, stands on the border between East and West. Born in the Soviet Union and living as an immigrant in London, his journey found its completion when he met his wife, a Korean-Japanese ceramic artist. That is why the beauty of the border between East and West shows through in the Tsubasa Crow.

Rim brake and disc brake

The Tsubasa Crow is offered with rim brakes or as a disc brake option. Lightweight carbon components from THM Carbones of Germany, Partington, the premium disc wheel brand that combines performance and low weight, and ENVE Composites, with its wide riding spectrum: Rubi Workshop works directly with a range of component brands for riders who choose the Crow.

TSUBASA

A sharp individuality

Most carbon fiber frames sold around the world, from Giant, Merida, Specialized, Trek and others, are built on the idea of mass production. The Tsubasa Crow starts instead from personalization. Alongside the core qualities of a handmade bike, remarkable stiffness and feather-light weight, the Crow's raw surface texture and custom paint options make an inviting canvas for a rider's individuality.

TSUBASA

Feather-light weight

The most important word in defining the Tsubasa Crow, the ultralight road bike from Tsubasa Bicycles, is weight. Tsubasa's owner Edvinas fine-tunes the ratio of prepreg and resin, the raw materials of a carbon road bike, so that not a single gram is wasted. It is a detail made possible because one builder handles both the design and the making of each frame.

03

PROCESS

A raw, grainy texture
is Tsubasa's alpha and omega.

Tsubasa's carbon pattern, unseen on production bikes, captivates cyclists. Edvinas, the designer of Tsubasa Bicycles, perfects the textured surface through a finely judged blend of carbon and resin.
